Work Package 7: Model based analysis of field data on CSFV transmission / persistence in the wild

Participants

  • ONCFS
  • VAR
  • FLI
  • IZS-UM
  • UCM
  • UFZ
  • Spectos

Objectives

  • 1) To define the critical (key) parameters responsible of CSF persistence in the wild. To explore in particular the effect of hunting pressure and seasonality, of landscape structure, of population size and wild boar demography.
  • 2) To provide an operational tool to predict CSF spreading and persistence in a given wild boar population. To evaluate the efficacy of oral vaccination in the wild using the C-strain or the marker-vaccine with different designs of baiting.
  • 3) To theoretically evaluate the relative performance of complex strategies combining vaccination and human induced modifications of the demography of wild boar (hunting and contraception).
