Work Package 3: Lab and field trials in view of the registration of the 3rd generation vaccine

Objectives

This WP awaits the final decisions on which chimerical vaccine to be used as detailed in WP1. The close collaboration with Fort Dodge throughout this WP is essential to cover all the aspects needed for files for registration of a vaccine.

  • 1) Experimental infections assuring efficacy
  • 2) Experimental trial on efficacy
  • 3) Field trials in domestic pigs assuring the efficacy of the vaccines, including uptake of the vaccine
  • 4) Field and laboratory trials covering problems occurring when vaccinating in populations where the disease is endemic (vaccine interference by other vaccines, duration of true marker ELISA reaction, analysis for marker ELISA reaction from carcasses)
